The 2024 Chieveley 50 has started !

What is it?

An informal group walk of a mile, taking place twice a day for 50 days. The walk starts at the church lychgate and we stroll up to the Village Hall, around the recreation ground into Middle Farm Close and then back again. This takes about 20 minutes. We do morning and evening walks to allow for all to join in, and we walk in all but the most extreme weather. Choose which time works for you best – or do both. We will be walking at 9.00am and then again at 6pm every day finishing with the 6pm walk on Friday 23rd February.

Why do it?

Well it’s a great chance to get some fresh air and exercise after all the festive indulgence. You can chat to old and new friends as you walk round, so it’s nice and sociable.

You’ll be raising money for a good cause. Each year we nominate a charity so that people can make a donation – effectively sponsoring yourself to walk. This year we have chosen West Berks Foodbank as the nominated charity – to donate go to www.justgiving.com/page/chieveley50. We aim to raise at least £500 for them.

How much to donate?

It's up to you, and there’s no obligation to donate anything. Some people donate £50 to represent the number of days it happens for, some donate a pound for each walk they do, and some pick an arbitrary amount that feels right for them.

Do I have to do all of the walks?

No! You can do as many as you like, mix and match mornings and evenings, or rise to the challenge of doing all of them. There’ll be a small prize for the person who does the most walks, so do keep count.

Everyone welcome, so if you haven’t done it before do come and join in. If you miss the first one then just join in another day.

Please chat to us if you’d like any more information and we look forward to seeing you on a walk or two.
