The Downland Practice has issued the following news update:
Immunosuppressed Third Primary Dose Covid-19
Currently those patients who are immunosuppressed are entitled to receive a third dose of Covid-19 Vaccine, patients in this group will be notified by letter from their Hospital Consultant. At the present time there is no facility at the Downland Practice to book these vaccines. As these third doses are inside of the six month window from their last Covid-19 vaccine, this group of people cannot book their vaccination by using the NHS Covid-19 Vaccine booking system. We have had a small number of letters from Hospital Consultants advising patients to have a third dose, names will be sent to the Clinical Commissioning Group for further actions to take place. This issue is occurring at other local practices also, once we have an answer we will post information on the website.
Covid-19 Booster Vaccines
All patients are invited to use the below link for information to see who can have a Covid-19 Booster vaccination and book an appointment should they wish to. You need to have had at least 6 months since your second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine in order to book your booster vaccine. Please do not call the surgery to book your booster as we are unable to book this for you.
Flu Vaccination Clinics
Downland Practice flu vaccination clinics (by appointment only):
Adults: Saturday 23rd October, Saturday 6th November, further dates TBC
Children: New date TBC
If you are over 65, or under 65 and have received an invitation, please call the surgery on 01635 248251 option 5 after 11am. If you are under 65, please wait to be invited before calling.
When you book your appointment, our team will give you a colour (blue, yellow, red, or green). Please remember this as it will help us guide you to the correct area of the surgery on the day. If you have a mobile phone, please ensure we have your correct details so we can send you a text reminder prior to your appointment. Please note, these are NOT walk in clinics; you MUST have an appointment.
All flu clinics are being held at Chieveley Surgery. Patients attending our flu clinics may be vulnerable so we ask that you please wear a face covering and continue to respect social distancing, where possible.
Please wear weather appropriate clothing as due to the number of patients requiring vaccination and the safety measures in place, you may be required to queue for a short time. Please arrive no more than 5 minutes prior to your appointment time.
Medication Reviews – Clinical Pharmacist
The Downland Practice now employ two Clinical Pharmacists as part of the Primary Care Network scheme. The Clinical Pharmacists are suitably qualified to undertake a medication review for patients. The Clinical Pharmacists by undertaking these medication reviews, free up GP time so that the GP can spend their clinical time dealing with patients who need to see a GP. Patients who see a Clinical Pharmacist will either have a face to face appointment or a telephone appointment.
Access to GPs
Information on the current situation regarding access to GPs is available here.
