Medicines for Muheza Update
Medicines for Muheza is a small, UK registered charity which has helped transform the work at St. Augustine's Hospital in Muheza, Tanzania over the last 30 years. Our community in Chieveley has supported it for over 20 years.
Update June 2020
Covid-19 has arrived in Tanzania and, I understand, the country is in denial about it. Thankfully, so far, numbers of cases are low, although they have had a few cases at the hospital in Muheza. They are, as we have been, short of PPE equipment and are trying to reduce the spread of the virus amongst the villages by using a new app for palliative care patients in order to keep in touch and to reduce unnecessary travel.
At the end of last year, we had raised around £4500 towards our target of £5500 for the year. I am absolutely delighted to report that we have now exceeded this target, with £5762.20 including Gift Aid. That is truly wonderful! This money will help so many people.
If you would still like to donate, you are not too late! Cheques are payable to Medicines for Muheza and can be posted to me (see below) or dropped into Paul Medley at Westfield House, just north of Quackers, on the High Street.
Your support is very much appreciated, particularly at this time. Thank you.
