Highways England have announced emergency carriageway repairs on the M4 Junction 13 - with significant delays expected at the roundabout. Details as follows;

Dear Stakeholder,

M4 Junction 13 Chieveley (West Berkshire) – Emergency Carriageway Repairs

Kier Highways, on behalf of Highways England, will be undertaking emergency repairs to a section of the M4 westbound carriageway at junction 13 which recently suffered from rapid deterioration. Work will involve excavating the surfacing, removal of existing failed waterproofing material and reinstatement of the road surface. These emergency works shall enable the network to remain fully open whilst a more permanent solution is developed for implementation during 2019.

To allow this to be done safely it is anticipated that the M4 westbound carriageway will have to be closed for approximately 15 hours between the exit and entry slip roads, with traffic being diverted down and across the junction.

To minimise disruption to the Christmas break traffic we will be undertaking these works from 9pm on Saturday 15 December straight through to midday on Sunday 16 December 2018, when traffic flows are expected to be at their lowest.
Although this closure and diversion is solely kept at the junction significant delays are expected and it is advised that you plan ahead of your journey to allow for extra time or avoid this route where possible.

We would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused by these emergency repairs. If you have any questions, or if you’d like to know about our work please contact us on 0300 123 5000 or email info@highwaysengland.co.uk

Yours faithfully
