Chieveley Community Charity Stroll 2020

This year the Christmas Card will be in the shop for you to sign as usual from December 1st. It offers you a great opportunity to send all your local friends festive wishes.

You are welcome to donate to our charity BUT also may wish to join us in our charity stroll in the New Year, raising valuable funds for a hugely worthwhile local cause – RECOVERY IN MIND– a Community Organisation (CIC), providing courses free of charge to support the mental health recovery of adults living in West Berkshire aged 18 and over who have a wide variety of mental health challenges.

This is a great chance for everybody in Chieveley to start the New Year with a little bit of exercise and get together to help others in a real community based manner. We did this last year and the community spirit was fantastic. We raised over £2000 and had a great deal of fun meeting and chatting with people every day. Let’s see what we can do this year!

The Stroll

Walk a mile a day for 50 days and raise £50. Or join us on any of the walks and do whatever you can fit in and donate accordingly or simply give a donation.  We will advise how to donate on www.mychieveley.co.uk.

How

Join a daily mile walk around the village at 9.00 am OR 6pm each day (head-torches for this one!) – you choose.  This will be led to start with but once up and running will just run itself as we are sure there will be someone there who knows the route. Or do bothJ.

What if you cannot make a walk

No worries just join us when you can. It’s up to you how many you can make! We are just asking if you can commit £50 for a good cause or as much as you think appropriate.

Who can do this?

Anyone over 18, or under if part of a family group. We are inviting all members of the village clubs and societies. Bring any friends and your neighbours. You don’t have to live in Chieveley.

When does it start and from where?

We will kick off in 2020 on 3rd January at 9.00am and then 6pm. We all meet at the lychgate at the Church and walk to the recreation centre and around it, a little piece of Middle Farm Close and back again. Nice and easy and a great chance to have a chat to lots of different people. Our 50 days will finish on 21st February with a fantastic torch-lit procession on the 6pm walk and a celebratory drink after at The Red Lion.

Why?

Why not? Great village community feel. Give something back! Bit of fitness and fresh air at the start of the year.

Go for it!

We look forward to seeing you all on the 3rd January.  We cannot all run a marathon, or cycle the length of the country but this is something WE CAN do.
