Old Kiln Farm Quarry
The Parish Council has been notified of an appeal regarding the continued extraction and processing of sand from Old Kiln Quarry. Representations are to be made by 30th May 2012 and the date for the Public Inquiry has yet to be set. Members of the public wishing to be kept informed about the date for the Public Inquiry should contact Nicholas Patch at the Planning Inspectorate by email to firstname.lastname@example.org quoting reference APP/W0340/A/12/2173977. Note - this appeal is not related to the Energy from Waste ('incinerator facility') planning application submitted by Grundon, but is associated with the same site
Election of Chairman and Vice Chairman
Rob Crispin was elected Chairman and David Cowan as Vice Chairman of the Parish Council for the new financial year. Photographs and profiles of the Chairman and Vice Chairman can be viewed on the Parish Councillors' Biographies page.
Appointment of Councillors to Committees
The Parish Council made a number of appointments of Councillors to committees, working groups and outside bodies associated with the communities of Chieveley, Curridge, Oare and part of Snelsmore. The appointments included Councillor Mike Taylor (Chieveley) to the Downland Patient Forum and Councillors Hilary Cole (Chieveley) and Diana Ffrench (Curridge) to the Public Rights of Way group.

Spotlight on Grants for 2012-2013
At the start of each financial year the Parish Council considers requests for grants and donations from clubs and groups in the community. Whilst the funds available for allocation each year are limited, they provide an important contribution to the overall costs of the schemes proposed.

Question - I have seen a planning notice outside a property. What does it mean?
Answer - Most local people first become aware there is a planning application being considered by West Berkshire Council when an orange notice is displayed outside the property or site. The notice will give brief information about the purpose of the application and provides a planning application reference number.
