Chieveley Parish Plan Action Group seeks a Secretary

The current Secretary is retiring having provided support for five years.   Five busy years which has seen the Parish Plan initiative go through consultations, ‘Have your say days', the questionnaire, through to the production of the Chieveley Parish Plan document.  The team are now working on the Action Plan items identified in the Plan.

It's a voluntary role, not too arduous, and it involves sending out an agenda, taking minutes at meetings (once every two months approximately) and, if you wish, you can get involved with action plan items as they are implemented.  They're a great team of people to get involved with.

Would like to leave the group in good hands when I leave at the end of this year.

Please email Tracy at Chieveley.pc@btinternet.com. Thank you.

Parish Plan Action Group (PPAG)

The Parish Plan team are now moving onto the actions identified in the Parish Plan document.  Firstly though we have decided to rename ourselves the Parish Plan Action Group (PPAG) as this gives people a better understanding of what we are all about.  ACTION!!

The actions can only happen if the group receives the support from the community so please, if you can spare any time and have an interest in any of the action items listed on the right hand side, please contact a member of the group to offer your support.  They will be pleased to hear from you.

Email:  parishplan@mychieveley.co.uk.

March 2011

The Parish Plan has been printed and currently in the process of being distributed throughout the Parish  by a great team of community volunteers.  The aim is for each household to receive a copy of the Parish Plan by the end of March 2011.

Action Time!

The Action Plan is now ready to be implemented.  Please contact us if you wish to become involved, now matter how small a contribution, in any of the Action Plan items listed in the document. We would love to hear from you.   A new Action Plan Committee needs to be set up with members of the community to help oversee the start of the plan's implementation this spring.  We are particularly looking for someone who is willing to take on the task of Chairing the Action Plan Team to take the Action Plan forward.    For more information please email chieveley.pc@btinternet.com.

Much has already been achieved as a result of the work carried out.   The Multi Use Games Area and Skate Park in Chieveley are now in place and being used, community members have been trained on SID (Speed Indicator Device) to target areas of speeding concern to the community, discussions have started on how a sports field/school play area can be provided in Curridge and Chieveley Cricket Club has been formed by community members and has already enjoyed a season, to mention a few.

The Parish Plan Steering Committee will have a display at the Parish Assembly at Chieveley Village Hall, High Street, Chieveley, Berkshire RG20 8TE on 12 April 2011 at 8pm.

 10 November 2010

It's official.  The Parish Plan document has been endorsed by West Berkshire Council today and now classed as an important local authority document. The plan will be going to print shortly and distributed to each household in February/March.

November 2010 update

We are very pleased to say that the Chieveley. Curridge and Oare Parish Plan has been approved by the Parish Council and is about to be accepted by West Berkshire Council. As soon as we receive confirmation of this we will be printing the plan and circulating a copy to each household in the Parish.  We expect this operation to be completed in the next couple of months.

Once this is done we will be looking for help from residents in the Parish to push forward the exciting actions proposed in the plan.  There will be plenty of opportunities for volunteers!!

January 2010 update

The Parish Plan Steering Committee would like to thank all the residents in the Parish for their time and support for this initiative over the last 3 years. With your help and feedback the Committee are now able to work on the text, graphs, action plan and supporting documents for the final document.

It is hoped the draft document will be available for consultation with the Parish Council and West Berkshire Council during March/April 2010. We hope to distribute the final document, one to each household, in the Summer.

If anyone is interested in helping with any action/working groups identified in the action plan please contact the Secretary on 01635 247507.

September / October 2009 Update

Don't miss this Autumn's Parish Plan Events:

Saturday 26th September, Chieveley Village Hall, Club Room, 10am-12pm

Saturday 3rd October (Curridge WI Hall) from 10am to 12pm

All members of the parish, young to old, are invited to join members of the planning team for tea, coffee and biscuits and an open discussion of ideas for the plan's next stage of development.

Results from last year's questionnaire, collected from a whopping 80% of all parish households, will be informally presented and the different topics displayed for members of the public to look at.

Following the analysis of the results the team have made progress in highlighting the key issues concerning people within the parish and have outlined a series of objectives to reach.

The Saturday morning open days are an opportunity for everyone with an interest or concern of a particular issue, featured within the questionnaire, to find out more and discuss ideas for action.

There will be a variety of people to meet at the events, all supporting different issues, including an eager group of youths keen to see the instalment of a new skateboard ramp at the Chieveley Recreational Ground

Whether concerned with improving the local bus service or reducing road noise, wanting a new skateboard ramp or a local cinema club, residents keen to see a difference mustn't miss these events.

The seven key topic areas and Focus Group Leaders are:

  • Environment/Sustainability Mike Taylor
  • Transport/Highways Paul Turner
  • Housing/Planning/Development Nick Hodge & Jean Rush
  • Leisure, Recreation & Rights of Way Kathy Titcombe & Janice Bridger
  • Community Infrastructure Tracy Snook
